A Brief History

The beginning of St. Paul School of San Jose Batangas Inc. can be traced back to the establishment of Learning Institute of San Jose, through the inspiration and hard work of the late Darwin M. Ubeda. It was a primary school offering Pre-elementary to Grade Two courses  in 2011 located at the back of an old house in Taysan, San Jose, Batangas. With his passing in August 2012, a tremendous desire to continue and enrich his work consumed the Ubeda Family, prompting the organization of a new school.

With the goal of bringing quality education to the “masa” to catalyze positive change while inspiring and promoting the values of Discipline, Respect, Honor and Excellence imparted by Darwin, the new school was named after St. Paul the Apostle who spread Christianity to many nations and lived a true life of conversion for Our Lord Jesus Christ.

On March 2013, Darwin’s parents, Mr. & Mrs. Paterno & Anacoreta Ubeda, purchased a parcel of land located along the  National Highway at Brgy. Sto. Cristo, San Jose, Batangas.  With the Grace of God, the construction of the first two buildings started on April 8, 2013. From here on, a new core and Board of Directors comprising of Anacoreta M. Ubeda, Paterno L. Ubeda, Von Ryan M. Ubeda, Rhia S. Ubeda and Engr. Rica Joy M. Ubeda committed themselves to the vision of Darwin in building a better community by sharing their passion for learning.

On June 17, 2013, with approval from the Department of Education, St. Paul School of San Jose Batangas Inc. formally opened its door to welcome learners from Nursery to Grade Four with a population of one hundred thirty-three learners. Mrs. Anacoreta M. Ubeda, a retired  Master Teacher II  with thirty-eight years of teaching experience became the principal of the school up to the present time.

During the summer of 2014, construction of the second building began to be able to accommodate the growing number of learners. On its second year of operation, the school had two hundred thirty-four learners. The following summer, the need for more classrooms led way to the construction of the second floor of the second building. As St. Paul School of San Jose Batangas asserts its identity as one of the top school in San Jose in the areas of Math, Reading, Writing, and Character Building, enrollment continues to grow prompting an ongoing construction. The  first batch of Grade Six students graduated in March 2016. The construction of the third and fourth levels of the second building followed that summer.

The Board of Directors then pursued their application for a permit  to operate Secondary Course for the school year 2017-2018 which was granted on March 2017. Through God’s Divine Grace, the construction of the High School Building commenced on April 8, 2017..

On June 13, 2017, St. Paul School of San Jose Batangas Inc. welcomed four  hundred thirty-two learners,  fifty-nine of which were  Grade Seven  and Grade Eight students. The school received Government Recognition for its Pre-elementary and Elementary Courses on July 4, 2017. Moreover, on February 2018, Government Recognition was issued to its Junior High School Courses.

At present, St. Paul School of San Jose Batangas Inc. offers Pre-Elementary, Elementary, Junior and Senior High School Courses.
